Throughout the year there are many events and festivals, such as the popular "Sagre" (village festivals in summer), Umbria Jazz in Perugia (July) and Orvieto (December), Trasimeno Blues (August), several "Palio", the recall of medieval games (Siena, Sarteano), the celebration of the olive oil or chestnut (Panicale) and wine tastings as part of the project "Cantine Aperte" (June-September).

Our area is also very famous for its Etruscan heritage, which cultural treasures can be admired in the National Etruscan Museum in Chiusi or by visiting the well-preserved Etruscan tombs just outside of Chiusi.

Grocery:
at the grocery store in Villastrada (1 km), in one of the big supermarkets or in the well-stocked gourmet shops in Chiusi or Castiglione del Lago. Furthermore, the weekly markets offer a rich choice of fresh vegetables, fruit, cheese and meat.

they form an essential part of social life in our region and consist for the most part of fashionable clothes, bags and shoes, kitchen items, fabrics and all that one needs.

Outlet:
the outlet centre "Valdichiana" (30 km) offers a wide range of famous and high quality Italian fashion brands.

Restaurants:
in Villastrada (1 km) there is the beautiful restaurant "Podere Santa Maria" and a café where they serve in the off-season on weekends and in the summer every evening delicious pizza. For gourmets we recommend the restaurants "Il Casale", outside of Paciano, the "Solita Zuppa" in the old part of Chiusi, or the "Vecchia Osteria" in Cetona.

Wine tasting:
located between the villages Villastrada and Vaiano is the outstanding and family run winery "Madrevite" and we can highly recommend their local wines.

Sightseeing:
Our surrounding offers the possibility of interesting sightseeing trips to nearby villages and towns such as Cetona, Chiusi, Città della Pieve, Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino and Radicofani. Or tours to the marvelous cities of Siena, Florence, Perugia, Orvieto, Viterbo and Rome.

Boating:
from Castiglione del Lago to the islands Maggiore and Polvese. Departure times are available at the tourist office in Castiglione.

Swimming, windsurfing, kayaking:
at one of the beaches around Castiglione del Lago and on the island Polvese.

Hiking and nature:
for those who enjoy hiking or just want to enjoy nature, there are great opportunities for intersting trips in the valley of the Orcia, the natural reserves of Monte Amiata and Monte Cetona and the bird sanctuary of Lake Montepulciano.

in Vaiano (4 km)

Golf:
iat the Lamborghini Golf Club in Panicarola (10 km, 9 holes) or at the Golf Club in Perugia (45 km, 18 holes).

Thermal baths and hot springs:
the spas of San Casciano dei Bagni, San Filippo, Bagno Vignoni and Rapolano Terme offer excellent opportunities to enjoy the healing water.
